Partnering with our Universities

Another fun meeting! It was great to be back in the warm confines of Doc's private room.

Don Smith was a very interesting guest giving us a view into what the University Partnership (Pitt & CMU) he heads up is doing for the universities, the general Oakland area and our entire region to promote entrepreneurship. This partnership is unique in our country. There are a couple of other instances of universities working together on some specific initiative, but our schools are the only ones who have formed cooperative efforts across a wide range of initiatives.

This is another example of how our organizations and their leaders are starting to pull together to closely coordinate activities. This maximizes everyone's efforts and helps to ensure the highest degree of success possible. Pittsburgh is very fortunate to continue the long line of visionary leaders who have graced our region.

Now, if we could just get the general populace to stop being so negative about our city, and understand that entrepreneurship isn't a bad thing, we could REALLY take off!

I am still struggling to find a way to connect with aspiring entrepreneurs.

I have been contacting all the agencies I can find and all the ones recommended by other people.

I'm not looking for events that charge a fee for me to listen to people pitch their business. I am trying to connect with people who want to team up and look for business opportunity.

In eighteen days I have talked with one entrepreneur and that was because I responded to a job ad that said the company was a startup. It was a long shot I know, but I just had to talk with someone.

Anyway, if you know of anything I should try can you let me know.

My company, Metanoia Development, was based on the idea of trying to help entrepreneurs. We purchased a large building in Bellevue, opened an independant department store on one level, and have had a few short lived "id liove to rent space off of you" interests. Well on the second floor of our building is "thinktank" www.thinktankpittsburgh.com . Shared office space for writers, designers, artists, creative minds. We really would like to run some Entrepreneurial based events out of the space as well. We have some ideas but need help. We are quickly running out of funds and time. Please feel free to research these ventures of ours...

or search for my name or my partners:
Andrew Rubacky or Sam DiBattista

Please dont look at this post as a "hey look at us" i just want to provide this information so you could get a good feeling with what we have done as well as what we want to do.

thanks

Agreed. Pittsburgh's self-image needs a nice boost. We're capable of doing it if we get our entreprenuerial ideas off the ground. Don't let hell and high water drag you down! A win for you is a win for everyone in this city who dreams of more than what we can currently achieve.
