As entrepreneurs we know how to s-t-r-e-t-c-h each dollar to its ripping point, and understand how to get a lot from a little. Also, we don't have a lot of money to "throw around", but are always ready to help fellow entrepreneurs. Well, have I got the perfect program for you.

That's right, if you are able to loan $50 or $100 dollars you can, truly, make a difference. You may have heard of microloans whereby a person in a developing country is given a tiny loan to get going. Now there is an organization, Kiva, that provides you the ability to put up a VERY small amount AND pick who you want to loan it to. You don't have to cover the entire loan request, just whatever you can afford. Kiva aggregates the loans until they reach the required amount needed by each individual.

FYI - banks would kill to achieve a payoff record as spotless as Kiva (zero defaults), so not only do you help someone, but you get the money back (with interest) to do it again! BusinessWeek has an interesting article describing how this works in their July 31st issue.
